Public Safety Innovations owner, Kelly Lawrence, started his criminal justice career at the Winn Parish Louisiana Sheriff’s Office in undercover narcotics with the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association Narcotics Task Force. He has also served as a police officer with Monroe, Louisiana, Police Department and with the Louisiana State Department of Probation/Parole as a Specialist and Supervisor. He has served as an instructor at the Louisiana State Peace Officer Academy for approximately 15 years, Community Resource Officer, Sex Offender Compliance Coordinator and a LA State Drug Testing Coordinator.

Kelly has 15 years' experience in administrative policy writing. He served on the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in criminal justice from Northeast Louisiana University where his research in criminal justice innovations/trends was published. Kelly is a certified FBI POST Academy Instructor, U.S. Justice Department Ethics Instructor, and an instructor in Ethical Decision Making, Community Policing, Conflict Resolution and Problem Solving.

In addition, he is currently an adjunct professor of criminal justice at Northwestern State University and a North Delta Police Academy Instructor. As a U.S. Justice Department Ethics Instructor, Kelly has instructed Ethical Decision Making classes at various law enforcement agencies in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. He is a 7 year member of the Southern States Correctional Association (SSCA), 5 years as committee chair of Research/Grants and served on the Program Committee.

Kelly is a member of the Louisiana Nursing Home Association (LNHA). He has 8 years' experience with direct care providers implementing drug testing policy/procedures and employment criminal histories.

Kelly Lawrence established Public Safety Innovations(PSI) in 2009 and quickly came one of the leading providers of drug testing products/services in Louisiana. PSI has been certified through the Louisiana Department of Economic Development as a Small and Emerging Business Enterprise providing services in LAB TESTING. PSI is now providing products/services in 15 states.

In 2016, PSI received the "Larger Than Life" award for Excellence in Customer Service!
